iPTT P500 using WiFi in Train Tunnels

iPTT | iPTT P500 using WiFi in Train Tunnels

The iPTT P500 is one of the most popular PTT Radios in the construction industry. When it comes to constructing new rail tracks, some of these end up going through tunnels (which also have to be constructed).

We explore using one of the best Push To Talk over Cellular (PTToC) radios available for construction and laying new rail tracks. Outside the tunnel, the P500 works seamlessly with the multi network SIMs, and in the tunnel, the P500 automatically connects, using tunnel WiFi.

One of our leading professional two-way communications partners, ESS Safeforce, has written about iPTT P500 being used in train tunnels. Here’s 2 pages highlighting the benefits of the tunnel mesh solution and iPTT P500 radio:

The challenge when  it comes to tunnels, is that there is normally not any mobile signal, however with the tunnel mesh WiFi system, the radios automatically switch to WiFi when used in the tunnel. When the radios are out of the tunnels, the radios switch back to the mobile network. This way you get complete coverage, whether you’re digging a tunnel or in the open air.
